Gouverneur Avenue is in Rutherford's southern corner. It begins from Rutherford Avenue and ascends the hill to Park Avenue, curving near the top. Once it gets across Park Avenue, it curves again and parallels Delafield Avenue to its end at Marginal Road. Prior to state highway 3, it ran through to Rutherford Avenue.
Street addresses are divided into east and west at Park Avenue, even though the stretch from Park Avenue to Marginal Road is essentially southwesterly.
