On 6-Feb, League president Tony Gwiazdowski and Rutherford Baseball Council president Matty Lorusso sign an agreement turning control of all borough baseball for 6- to 12-year-olds over to Rutherford Little League, ending 25 years of animosity between the organizations.
Park Exxon becomes Park Sunoco, as Mike Latorraca signs a new fuel supply agreement.
Pitcher Bobby Prince evokes images of Midland Parks Johnny Vander Meer when he hurls consecutive no-hitters to open the season. Later, he posts an 18-strikeout game as well.
Helped by a controversial call at second base in the championship game at Lodi, Rutherford National noses out Rutherford American for the district championship. The club loses the sectional final to Secaucus.
