Union Middle School
Union School, on Union Avenue between Springfield and Belford avenues, first opened in 1924. The school served up to the eighth grade until 1959, when it became a K-6 school. In 1975, the 7th and 8th grades returned here from Rutherford Junior High, and in 2005 the building became strictly a middle school, for grades 4 through 8. Several new areas were added in the early 2000s, the first significant addition to the building since it was built. The school now serves all Borough pupils in grades 7 and 8.
