To better accommodate the enrollment of the softball program, the Junior level was scaled back to four teams, while the Major level was increased to seven teams. The program is designed to be flexible as enrollment fluctuates.
Two tournament teams took home section titles. The 10U baseball team won its section at Buchmuller Park in Secaucus and advanced to the state final in Wayne, finishing fourth. Meanwhile, the softball program hosted section tournaments at 10U, 12U, and 14U levels, and Rutherfords 14U team won the section and advanced to the state finals it also hosted. Rutherford dropped a classic 10-inning contest against Lincroft to finish third in the state. West Cumberland won the tournament and advanced all the way to the Junior League World Series.
