Highways of Bergen County, New Jersey

Bergen Boulevard connects Hudson (now J.F. Kennedy) Boulevard in North Bergen with Fort Lee. Today, several blocks of US 1/9/46 in Fort Lee are labeled Bergen Boulevard, although I'm not sure where that road traditionally ends. It is entirely possible that Bergen and Hudson Boulevards together once constituted a single road, as Hudson County was a part of Bergen County until the 1840s. Back then, the community called Bergen was just south of today's Journal Square in Jersey City, which explains how North Bergen is where it is today.

In the early days of the New Jersey highway system, NJ 63 was NJ S-1, a spur route off NJ 1. That highway, in turn, followed current US 1 in Bergen County from Ridgefield to Fort Lee.

NJ 63 is cosigned as CR 501 (a designation that Hudson Boulevard also bears) from its origin to Central Avenue in Palisades Park.
