Quick Facts:
Lynchburg College, which upgraded to the University of Lynchburg in 2018, is the older of the two Christian institutions of higher education in the City of Lynchburg (Liberty University being the other). The school was founded in 1903 by the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) on the grounds of a failed resort hotel, and has expanded on the grounds of the picturesque campus.

Fox Field is located toward the rear (west) of the campus, not far from a swelling of Blackwater Creek known as College Lake. The field may have existed prior to 1979, but in that year it was dedicated to former administrator and coach James C. Fox.

The facility is cut into the contour of the land, with a terrace along the first-base side adjacent to Wake Field House providing most of the seating area.

Jack Hobbs, who pitched in four games for the Minnesota Twins in 1981 and whose professional career spanned from 1978-83, was graduated from Lynchburg College in 1978 and drafted that summer by the Seattle Mariners.
