Quick Facts:
- Location: Stadium Drive off East Palmetto Street (US 76/301), Florence, S.C.
- Opened: Before 1981
- Home team: Florence Blue Jays (1981-86), South Atlantic League; Florence Flame, Atlantic Coast League (1995)
- Capacity: 3,500
This not-unusual facility for American Legion baseball became a professional park twice, for six years in the 1980s with the South Atlantic League, and in 1995 when it hosted a club in one of the two seasons of the Atlantic Coast Leagues existence. The park sits next to a similar football stadium that is used by the high school teams in town.
As of 2005, Legion Field was being used by a club in the Coastal Plain League, a college summer league, but that team eventually moved to Francis Marion University east of town.
I was not able to get into American Legion Field on my 2005 visit.
