The original stadium here in this city on the west coast of Puerto Rico was named for Isidoro “Cholo” Garcia, who threw the first no-hitter in a championship round game in Puerto Rico Winter League history. That facility lasted from 1938 to 2007, when the home team, the Indios, took a two-season hiatus to allow a completely new ballpark to be built. This place opened in time for the Central American and Caribbean Games of 2010, along with a soccer stadium next door. The park also hosted the Serie del Caribe in 2011.

Los Indios have the same garnet-and-gold color scheme as Florida State University, and the Seminole war chant is occasionally heard in the stadium.
