Aside from its brief tenure in independent ball, Don Edwards Field is used primarily for amateur tournaments. In 2005, it is the host site for the Babe Ruth 18-and-under World Series.
The field is set back in a remote part of town, accessible only by passing another four-field complex and crossing a bridge. It, along with another field in the same complex, is sandwiched between a creek and railroad tracks.
When the Newark Buffalos (sometimes called the Bison) saw their attendance drop dramatically after the 1995 season, the franchise was shifted to Kalamazoo, Mich.
