Stitzel Field

Football stands along the first-base line at Stitzel Field, Sep-2012.

A look in at today’s baseball backstop. There was likely a stadium structure in the 1940s.

The multi-purpose field is lined for football on this early fall afternoon.

Quick Facts:
This field, now used for amateur baseball as well as Pop Warner and other amateur football, saw use in the late 1940s in the Colonial League, which had teams in Connecticut and New Jersey as well as New York.

I am not familiar with the seating configuration when the field hosted pro baseball, but I do know that the field has also long been used for football and so there may have only been a temporary outfield fence when this park was in active use.
