The park, sandwiched between a firehouse and an elementary school, also abuts a residential area. This makes the space a little tight, and so the outfield fence, which is generally close to 190 feet from home plate, cuts in sharply near the left-field line to about 170 feet.

In addition, the batter faces just south of west here, an unusual alignment again owing to the lay of the land. Fortunately, the sun does not set directly in the batter’s eyes except in the dead of winter, when there are no games being played.

I am not sure who Ives Nedellec was, although the family was apparently prominent in Saddle Brook at one time, as a street several blocks from the field bears the Nedellec name.
