Legion Field

Main entrance to Legion Field in Greenville, Miss., Sep-2006.

A look in from down the right-field line.

Quick Facts:
This humble facility served as a pro ball field for six seasons, from 1996 to 2001. Prior to that, the last team Greenville had seen was in the Cotton States League in 1955. Site visitor John Walker advises that that club, the Greenville Bucks, played diagonally across town at a ballpark that was torn down in the early 1960s.

I was not able to get into Legion Field on my 2006 visit. Recent satellite images show the field still standing but in disuse, with no dirt extant in the infield.
