O’Fallon is a rapidly growing suburb west of St. Louis, in St. Charles County. T.R. Hughes, the original naming sponsor, is a builder responsible for developing much of the area.

Visitors to the stadium park on the other side of T.R. Hughes Boulevard from the ballpark and walk across a footbridge. Once inside the park, fans find themselves in a fairly standard single-level facility, with a concourse that stretches part of the way around left field, leading to a kids’ play area. The park also features “open-air suites” down the right-field line and “tent suites” down the left-field line.

Fans of the River City Rascals tend to be respectful of the opposing team, but they can be unmerciful to umpires when they feel they have been wronged by a call from a man in blue.

In 2017, CarShield Field became the latest facility to convert their playing surface to artificial turf, in an effort to maximize the number of events that could be held at the venue.

Late in the 2019 season, the Rascals announced that they were going out of business at the end of the year. The team responded by winning the Frontier League title in their last hurrah.
