Al Nyberg Field is the ballpark for the mining town of Hibbing, which is perhaps better known for being the birthplace of Roger Maris and the hometown of musician Bob Dylan. The field is named for a former local player in Hibbing.
The old wooden ballpark, which still sees action in local amateur leagues, saw the professional baseball light of day in 1995, when the ill-fated North Central League placed a team here. The loop, which had made it through the 1994 season, folded four weeks into the new campaign, taking Nyberg Field with it as a pro venue.
I was not able to get into Nyberg Field on my 2010 visit.
