Brennan Field, an on-campus facility which is primarily the home to the Lewis University baseball program, has also hosted a little bit of professional baseball, including the one season of the Will County Claws of the short-lived North Central League and two seasons of the Will County Cheetahs, who played in the Heartland League.
After the 1997 season, the Cheetahs relocated to Cook County, taking up residence at Howie Minas Field in Midlothian, 22 miles to the east.
The park continues to be used by amateur teams as well as by the Flyers. On the day I arrived, representatives of teams in an Over-40 league were working to get the field playable. One player said the rainstorm that put the game in jeopardy had come two nights before, and he remarked about poor drainage. The park is located across old Route 66 from the Des Plaines River.
The Lewis University Flyers compete in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. One of their opponents is Quincy University.
