Quick Facts:
Flagler College was established in 1968, incorporating the historic Ponce de Leon Hotel in downtown St. Augustine, a grand structure with Tiffany stained glass windows in the main ballroom that was commissioned by the railroad magnate Henry Flagler (for whom nearby Flagler County is named) back in 1888.

Given the constraints of the historic neighborhood in which the college is located, the school’s outdoor athletic facilities are about two miles from the heart of the campus. Drysdale Field is part of a complex that also includes soccer and softball fields. The field is dedicated to Walter Drysdale, a St. Augustine native and one-time catcher for the St. Augustine Saints of the Florida State League who came to be a supporter of Flagler athletics. Interestingly, Drysdale pronounced his name “Drizz-dale”, in contrast to the former Dodgers star pitcher Don Drysdale (“Dries-dale”).

In 2016, the field received an infield of artificial turf through a capital campaign. The pitcher’s mound remains dirt, and the outfield remains grass.

The stadium has no shelter except for some umbrellas located on the third-base side near an emergency exit. This can make day games difficult to watch. (Be sure to apply sunscreen.)
