Entrance to Broer Stadium, Jan-2024. |
Modest seating along the first-base line. |
A nearly-behind-the-catcher view. |
The field, adjacent to Victory Field, the schools football stadium, features modest seating. The Fire sit on the third-base side, and a small stand on that side is generally occupied by parents and relatives of SEU players. The stand on the first-base side holds about 200 fans.
While the field dimensions extend out to 400 feet in left center, it is only 315 feet to the left-field foul pole. A 24-foot-high fence helps keep some balls hit in that direction in play, similar to Fenway Park. Another Fenway-like feature is a short right-field pole, at 310 feet, although it bows out to a more respectable 370 feet in the right-field power alley.
The facility is right up against North Crystal Lake Drive; foul balls can and do land in the street and even on roofs of houses across the way.
