In 1998, Jacksonville University built this baseball facility and dedicated it to long-time benefactor John F. Sessions, an alumnus of the school who went on to become a successful contractor in the pest control industry. Sessions was a regular attendee at JU athletic contests, including baseball. To this day, the seventh-inning stretch at Dolphins games is dedicated to Sessions, who died in 2009.
The entry portal and current scoreboard were added in 2008. Sadly, for this fan anyway, there are no shaded areas of the seating bowl, although the concession ("Con-Sessions") and souvenir stands are located underneath the main grandstand in the shade.
Over the years, JU has turned out quite a few players who went on to the major leagues. A mural near the souvenir stand is dedicated to infielder Daniel Murphy, who had success with several MLB clubs in the decade of the 2010s.
