Florida Ballpark

Two decks of seating and a sizable berm area distinguish the park.

Quick Facts:
Perry Field, later expanded into McKethan Stadium, had served as the home of Florida Gators baseball from 1949 to 2020, but as crowds grew with the success of the team (which won the national championship in 2017), the school quickly realized that the existing park was inadequate.

As a result, the athletic department undertook a capital campaign and built a new stadium down Hull Road, near the softball and lacrosse facilities. The new Florida Ballpark is built largely to the specifications of a High-A-level minor league park, with 4,000 chair-back seats on two levels as well as luxury boxes. Berm seating down the lines and wrapping into the outfield expands the capacity to at least 7,000, with room to add more outfield bleachers if warranted.

The field here carries on the dedication to Alfred A. McKethan, a 1931 UF graduate who became a citrus grower and also a successful banker, eventually entering politics as chairman of the State Road Board and helping to spur construction of Florida’s Turnpike as well as the original Sunshine Skyway Bridge between Bradenton and St. Petersburg. McKethan had donated nearly a million dollars to the school for a new baseball stadium surrounding Perry Field in 1988.

The stadium received a new name, Condron Family Ballpark, in April 2022 thanks to a generous benefactor.
