A look in from down the third-base line.

The expansive grandstand is well protected by netting.

Quick Facts:
Palmer Field is the municipal stadium for the City of Middletown. It is primarily home to the baseball team of the American Legion post that sits next door to the field, although Xavier High School also uses the park for baseball and football. A new LED matrix scoreboard serving both sports became operational for the 2017 season.

The facility hosted the American Legion World Series in 1998 and 1999, as well as the Ivy League championship series in 1993 and 1994. Nearby Wesleyan University has also used the field when it has hosted regional rounds of the NCAA Division III baseball championship. When I got here in 2017 to take photos, a state Legion tournament game between Greenwich and Trumbull was about to get underway.

Palmer Field was also used for ten years of college summer ball, as the New England Collegiate Baseball League had a team here from 1994 to 2003.
