Nogales War Memorial Stadium

Quick Facts:
I am not sure when War Memorial Stadium in Nogales was built, but I do know that it hosted the Babe Ruth League (13- to 15-year-old) World Series in 1979.

In 2003, the park saw a partial season of independent league action with the Charros of the Arizona-Mexico League taking up residence. That league did not make it through the season. In 2013, the Desert Ghosts were announced as a team for the American West Baseball League, then in its third season, but that season never began for the loop.

The ballpark does see occasional professional action of a sort. For the last several years, the Mexican Pacific League, a winter league that participates in the Caribbean Series, has staged “fall training” games in this border town. In September 2018, the Aguilas de Mexicali “hosted” the Naranjeros de Hermosillo for two games and the Yaquis de Obregon for a third contest. In the meantime, the local high school uses the field for its home games.

I was not able to get into War Memorial Stadium on my 2018 visit.
