This field on the University of South Alabama campus has hosted the Jaguars baseball program for many years. From 1969 to 1983, former Major League Baseball second baseman and manager Eddie Stanky was the head coach at the university; in his honor, the state legislature named the new field for him following the 1979 season.
A new entranceway and press box, along with an additional bleacher section, were dedicated in 2005, long after this field saw its only professional use, for the independent Mobile Baysharks. Affiliated ball arrived in town for the 1997 season with the Mobile BayBears, who play closer to downtown at a field named for Mobile native Hank Aaron, who held the MLB record for career home runs from 1974 to 2007.
The clubhouse down the left-field line is named for former Jaguar and major leaguer Jon Lieber.
