Edwin L. Ward, Sr. Memorial Highway is the southern half of the service road built by the New Jersey Department of Transportation as part of the revised interchange of NJ 3 and NJ 17. It is dedicated to Edwin L. Ward, Sr., a firefighter who lost his life battling a 1965 blaze. The part of the service road north of NJ 3 is designated as Dunn Highway in honor of another fallen firefighter.
