Sylvan School (now Kindergarten Center)

Sylvan School, at the corner of Sylvan Street and Highland Cross, dates to 1914 as an elementary school. In the early 2000s restructuring of the school district, there was no land on which to expand Sylvan School, so the school district now leases the school building to the South Bergen Jointure Commission, which utilizes it for programs for exceptional children. Pupils in kindergarten through fourth grade now attend either Lincoln or Washington School. In 2016, the school district took over the building again; it now serves as the Kindergarten Center, where all Kindergarten pupils attend.
