Highways of Bergen County, New Jersey
Bergen County Road 80 was supposed to stretch from Midland Park all the way to Alpine, but it seems politics got in the way.
The road originally started from CR 84 and used Godwin Avenue, Ridgewood Avenue, and Oradell Avenue to get to Kinderkamack Road. Logically, the road would continue on Oradell Avenue and then turn left into Haworth, but there is a stretch of roadway that is not county-controlled, leaving CR 80 in two broken sections. A 1959 County Planning Board map shows that this stretch was county-controlled at that time.
With most of the stretch in Ridgewood and Oradell becoming part of CR 6, CR 80 now only includes the section east of the Hackensack River. Because of the municipally maintained sections of roadway in Oradell, the designation now begins out of nowhere at the Haworth line.
