Quick Facts:
When I happened upon the Coastal Carolina field in 2012, a softball coach who was standing nearby at the adjacent field had no idea the baseball field was once used for professional ball. But it was, for six seasons in the South Atlantic League. Now, it is dedicated as Charles Watson Stadium at Vrooman Field (I am not sure whether either dedication existed back in 1992), and plans are in the works to build an even larger and more impressive stadium structure in time for the 2014 season.

After the Hurricanes left town, the Myrtle Beach area (Conway is about 12 miles northwest on US 501) went without pro ball until Pelicans Ballpark was built within the city of Myrtle Beach.
