Home of the Jaguars

Looking in from right field at the Rock Canyon HS baseball field, Jul-2020.

The ninth inning is about to begin.

Quick Facts:
Rock Canyon High School is a fairly new institution in the north end of Douglas County, Colorado, an area that has seen explosive growth in recent years as the Denver suburbs have expanded.

The school has athletic facilities on campus, including this baseball field, where I attended what appeared to be a pick-up game between a team of recently graduated high schoolers, some of whom were playing for local community colleges and other institutions, and the Liberal Bee Jays of the National Baseball Congress.

The baseball field has artificial turf throughout the infield, including the pitcher’s mound, while the outfield is natural grass. I did see at least one infielder have trouble with the transition as he fielded a ball at the seam between the carpet and the grass in the late innings.

Otherwise, this is a very respectable high school field, complete with a full scoreboard in the outfield and a press box. About the only drawback is that there is no spectator shelter; then again, one seldom finds that at high school fields.
