One of my first trips outside my native New Jersey was with my parents to Vermont. They were on a fall foliage tour. Since then, my tours have taken me to Bennington, home of the battle monument (the battle took place a few miles west in Walloomsac, N.Y.); Burlington, host to the University of Vermont and four other colleges; Plymouth, homestead of Calvin Coolidge; and Springfield, where you’ll see telescopes and astronomy exhibits at the Harkness House and the Stellafane Convention every August.
