In the first game, John Papenberg of Springs and Dennis Rogers of Roadrunner waged a pitchers duel through three scoreless innings.
Runner took a 1-0 lead in the fourth on an RBI by Billy Brancato, but Springs tied the game in the fifth on a homer by Papenberg, then went ahead in the top of the sixth on hits by Mike Jones and Scott Dreher, plus a walk and a hit batter.
Roadrunner scored the tying and winning runs in the home sixth when Rogers singled, took second on a wild pitch and scored as Jim Kellys bunt was misplayed. Kelly reached third on Keith Kleins bunt and scored on Brancatos second RBI single.
