The Rutherford American Little League All Stars will play tonight in the District 5 semi-final game of the tournament at 6 oclock in Garfield, having won their way by defeating Saddle Brook National on Monday night 6-0.
John Resch, hurling for Rutherford, shut out the Saddle Brook team on the latters home field with one hit. It was an abbreviated game, halted after Rutherford had batted in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Rutherford took a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Dave Cross and Ed Young bracketed singles around a walk to Farrell Sheridan, filling the bases. Resch grounded out, a run scoring, and Bobby Latorraca singled another tally across. Don Penna was safe on an error, bringing in the third run.
The victors added another run in the second when Jeff Reulbach and Cross were both safe on errors. Young singled the tally home.
The winners then made good use of their last at-bats by scoring two more runs. Resch and Latorraca singled and Penna was safe on an error, which allowed both runners to score.
Young had three hits and Latorraca two in Rutherfords 7-hit attack.
