In a nip and tuck game Monday evening Boiling Springs gained a full game on the National League leaders, Kiwanis, edging them out by scoring twice in the bottom of the sixth 8-7.
Mike Monroe started on the mound for Boiling Springs, relieved by Richie Rifkind, with Gil Steinberger catching. Denny Russo and Ron Ryder shared the pitching for Kiwanis, with Dan Mitchell catching. Jim Gaffney of Boiling Springs lifted one over the fence for a home run.
