The Lions met the Elks in a game that had the fans on their feet throughout the contest. Pete Healy of the Lions and Ron Giordano of the Elks hooked up in a duel that saw both boys go 6 innings without a score. Pete chucked his 2nd no-hitter of the season, and he must be recognized as one of the best pitchers in the league. Ron Giordano, no slouch when it comes to throwing, pitched a one-hitter in his 6 inning stint. Both boys came out in the seventh to a standing ovation. Jim Lynch took over for the Lions and Bill Schlenger for the Elks. In the 8th the Lions scored once but the Elks came roaring back with 2 to pull it out, 2-1.
