It took the Wood-Ridge club nine innings to get their two runs, and they were supported in their efforts by the fine pitching of Ray Dabak, who allowed but two hits and struck out 19 Rutherford batters.
Wood-Ridge scored first in the second inning, and Rutherford came right back in the third with a run by Schlenger, who played first base. From then until the bottom of the ninth inning both hurlers pitched scoreless ball. McGregor got two of the four Wood-Ridge hits and scored one of the pair of runs. Marthinson got one hit and scored a run. Kalinger got the remaining hit.
Chandler and Sheridan were the only Rutherford batters to hit safely.
