( 5- 5) JAYCEES 0 1 0 0 1 0 -- 2 3 1 ( 5- 4) PASTORI 0 1 0 0 4 x -- 5 4 3 W - ECole (4-1) L - Butcher (2-3) HR - Haugh (1)
Pastore replaced the Jaycees in second place by coming from behind with a four run last inning surge Friday to beat the JCCs and pass them in the standings.
It was strictly a last ditch stand for the Pastore club, as they put together their entire rally with two men away. Maull had led off the final frame with a single, but the next two batters were whiffed by Jaycee hurler Butcher.
Pinch hitter Dressel worked Butcher for a walk and Eugene Cole singled cleanly to load the bases. Haughs home run cleared the sacks and won the game for Pastore.
The Jaycees had scored a clutch run of their own to take the lead in the top of the fifth, when Friedman, who had walked, went to second on Galganos single, and took third on a passed ball. He scored on Walkers single to give the Junior Chamber a one run lead.
Both teams had traded single tallies in the second inning.
Maull, second sacker for the winners, was big stick man for the day with two hits in two appearances. Haugh and Eugene Cole, Rotary hurlers, combined to pitch 3-hit ball.
