( 5- 3) ROTARY 0 0 8 7 3 --18 13 0 ( 5- 4) JAYCEES 0 1 0 0 0 -- 1 1 1 W - Pollara (4-0) L - Schweizer (3-2)
The Rotary made sure of its top spot with an 18-1 crush of the second place Jaycees Tuesday, erupting with eight runs in the third inning and seven in the fourth, while Rotary moundsman Pollara was pitching one hit as well as one run ball.
The Rotary batted around in the third, but scored five of their eight runs while two were out. Pitcher Pollara, who was 4 for 4 on the day, led off with a single, and two successive safeties followed by a pair of free passes brought in three runs.
Then after two struck out, another walk and three hits made a shambles of the inning and put the game and first place on ice for the Rotary.
