The Junior Chamber nipped the Kiwanis 5-4 in an extra inning game which went nine frames Wednesday afternoon to throw the local Little Loop decision squarely up to Pastore and the Rotary, who face off in the final Little contest tomorrow.
The Kiwanis, by losing yesterday, gave up any chance of anything better than a tie for first, while the Rotary, by defeating Pastore tomorrow, could cop the loop crown. Pastore, a half length behind the Junior Chamber, will be fighting just as hard to avoid sole occupancy of the cellar.
The Junior Chamber won in the bottom of the ninth inning without the benefit of a hit yesterday. Bob MacLeod was on via the right fielders error, and came home when three straight bases on balls were issued to Chuck Roedema, Bill Butterworth and Johnny Vanderveer.
The boys, a bit looser at bat in the closing days of the season than they were when play commenced early in July, accounted for a total of eleven safeties with Ray Reardon, Chuck Roedema, and Dave Pollack all being credited with two.
