For the life of me, I can’t figure out why they didn’t just extend CR 504 over the length of Ratzer Road and not break up the Hamburg Turnpike with a bunch of different designations. Instead, 504 runs up Alps Road to the Hamburg Pike and then turns left at Pompton Road – which is Ratzer Road on the other side of the turnpike.
I would simply extend the CR 670 designation of Alps Road, which it bears south of Ratzer Road, all the way to the Hamburg Pike. Fellow road geek Steve Alpert would also make all of Ratzer Road CR 504, but he says he would extend the CR 502 designation down Alps Road to meet CR 504 at Ratzer Road. Hey, he named his highway site “Alps’ Roads”, so he has a thing for Alps Road and I’m sure he’d like to see part of it retain a 500 number.
