State Highways of New Jersey

NJ 182 is a mile-long stretch of roadway on the east end of Hackettstown that was taken over by NJDOT for the purpose of connecting NJ 57 (at one time a temporary routing for NJ 24) to US 46 in downtown Hackettstown. The road is also part of SR 517.

NJ 24 was never built or acquired between Hackettstown and Morristown, although it has long been signed through the area along county highways. A sign at the east end of NJ 57 (at NJ 182) points to SR 517 southbound and indicates that the road is NJ 24. Since there is no actual NJ 24 connection, it probably would make sense for NJDOT to re-designate NJ 182 as part of NJ 57, but there are no known plans to do so.
