State Highways of New Jersey
NJ 140 is the westernmost part of Slapes Corner Road in Carneys Point. The highway, which is also part of SR 540, provides motorists with easier interchanges between the New Jersey Turnpike, I-295, US 40, and US 130. The short connector is flanked by several truck stops. US 40 was routed over the highway for a short time before the completion of ramps off the Turnpike; now, US 40 continues up the Turnpike for about ¾ mile past the I-295 split before veering off.
State jurisdiction ends at the end of the short ramp from US 40 east to Hawks Bridge Road.
SR 551 joins NJ 140 briefly between I-295 and Pennsville-Auburn Road, a highway that ran through until the Turnpike and I-295, and their interchange, cut it off.
