“Ninety Percent of This Game Is Half Mental”

Exterior of the Yogi Berra Museum, Jan-1999.

Many of Berra’s artifacts and photos are included in the exhibits.

The museum also pays tribute to Berra’s Yankee teammates.

Quick Facts:

When Yogi Berra was giving Phil Rizzuto directions to his new house in Montclair, N.J., in the late 1950s, Berra reached an intersection and told Rizzuto, “When you come to a fork in the road, take it.”

Well, if you take a fork on Mount Hebron Avenue and then turn right on Valley Road and left on Normal Avenue, the entrance to Montclair State University is on the right side. In 1998, Yogi Berra Stadium was constructed on the north end of the campus. Before the year was out, the Yogi Berra Museum was open, overlooking the first-base line of the new ballpark. Berra himself was a regular at the museum until shortly before his death in 2015.

The museum, dedicated as an educational facility, is a repository for significant amounts of memorabilia relating to Yogi, his family, and the New York Yankees, for whom he caught and played left field for a decade and a half and later managed. In recent years, the Yankees have displayed the Commissioner’s Trophy, awarded to the World Series champion, at the museum.
