Bear Stadium

Entrance to Bear Stadium, Apr-2015.

The main grandstand is brick; aluminum bleachers flank it.

The stadium looks out over the bucolic southeastern quadrant of Berks County.

Quick Facts:
The name “Boyertown Bears” applies both to the athletic teams at the high school in the borough and to the American Legion baseball team. Bear Stadium was built as a joint effort between the school district and the Legion program, which won several national titles under the supervision of long-time chairman Don Specht.

Bear Stadium has hosted the American Legion World Series in 1988 and 1991, as well as numerous regional tournaments. In addition, several college conferences, including the Atlantic-10 Conference, have played their championship tournaments here.

In 2003, the proud residents of the borough started a “Bear Fever” project, decorating bear statues as public art and placing them in strategic spots around the town. The bear to the right is located outside the ballpark; others are in front of stores and professional offices.
