What was known as Class of ’53 Field for many years was renamed Bainton Field at the Class of ’53 Complex after the Bainton brothers gave Rutgers University a $1.25 million donation to install a FieldTurf playing surface and make additional upgrades to the baseball facility for the 2007 season.

While I had gotten here for a game in the Garden State Games, an annual festival featuring high school players, back in 1990, I never saw the Scarlet Knights play a home game until 2011, when I caught a conference game against rival Seton Hall.
