Gallagher Field

William F. Gallagher Field is the name given to the larger of the two fields at the Gallagher Recreation Area. This field is generally used for the marquee games, owing to its enhanced seating capacity. A second field, Patsy DeLoy Field, is also used for Little League games, and a separate Tee Ball field has also been installed at the complex. The game log below includes contests on both Gallagher and DeLoy fields.

The two buildings on site are dedicated to long-time coach Frank Lowder and former league president Jim Radigan. Several other memorial plaques are affixed to the concession stand building, which also serves as a meeting room and the press box for DeLoy Field.

Despite adjoining the north area of Riverside County Park, which includes Breslin Stadium, the Gallagher Recreation Area is owned by the Township of Lyndhurst rather than by Bergen County. This has often caused confusion among visitors. Recently, the township has taken steps to patrol parking in order to ensure that county park visitors use only county parking areas, so that Little League patrons have enough room to park.

Gallagher Field hosted the 1966 New Jersey Little League state finals, in which West New York American, down to their last out against Upper Saddle River, got a three-run homer from Mario Ruiz to win 3-1 and advance to the divisional bracket. West New York American would make it all the way to the championship game in South Williamsport, Pa., before losing to a team from Houston, Texas.
