State Highways of New Jersey

NJ 184 is a stretch of highway in Woodbridge and Perth Amboy that was apparently part of the original, pre-freeway alignment of NJ 440, the approach road to the Outerbridge Crossing that connects with NY 440 on Staten Island. For most of its length, NJ 184 is co-signed with SR 501, which begins in Edison and crosses the Outerbridge along with NJ 440; both 440 and 501 re-emerge in Bayonne after traversing Staten Island and crossing the Bayonne Bridge.
