State Highways of New Jersey

NJ 183 is the section of US 206 in Stanhope and Netcong that has been bypassed.

When I-80 was put through, the state decided to build an access road west of Netcong for traffic heading north on US 206. The US highway was then routed onto I-80 and the new access road, leaving this highway orphaned. It was designated NJ 183, the next number in sequence after NJ 182, which was assigned to a road in nearby Hackettstown.
