State Highways of New Jersey

The parts of the old turnpike beyond either end of NJ 124 are controlled by county authorities, and this may have always been the case even though NJ 24 was legislated to follow the entire turnpike. Signs designating the old turnpike as “NJ 24” are still in place in Morris County. However, Springfield Avenue in Irvington and Newark is signed only as a county highway.
