State Highways of New Jersey

NJ 82 is the spur of the Morris & Essex Turnpike, now NJ 124, that continued the road straight to Elizabeth. The highway was originally designated as NJ S-24, but the spur route designation was eliminated in 1953, when many New Jersey highways were renumbered.

At one time, the highway continued into the heart of Elizabeth, but the section of Morris Avenue between North Avenue, NJ 439, and Westfield Avenue, NJ 27, in downtown Elizabeth is now under county jurisdiction.
